Science Club for Girls

Meredith Blake, Volunteer Coordinator | Mass Promise Fellow

Meredith joined Science Club for Girls (SCFG) in 2010 as the Volunteer Coordinator through the Massachusetts Promise Fellowship. She managed mentor-scientist recruitment, applications, site placement, training, and community-building. She also worked with student leaders from the SCFG college chapters at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Harvard, Northeastern and Tufts universities. She hoped to found several more college chapters over the next year.

Raised in Pepperell, Mass. and Kennebunk, Maine, Meredith moved to Boston three years ago. Since then she has worked for several Boston-based organizations including Citizen Schools and Harvard Kennedy School's Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs. She has also volunteered with Girls' LEAP and Strong Women, Strong Girls as a self-defense teacher and mentor.

Meredith worked concurrently as an Assistant Resident Director at the Benjamin Franklin Institute of Technology and plans to complete a degree in Political Science at Northeastern University.

Tenure: August 2010 - March 2011
