Site Information

The Hernández school was founded in the 1970s to meet the educational needs of Latino children. With the desegregation order for Boston schools, it became a two-way bilingual school supporting children to learn in Spanish and English, and celebrate the diverse backgrounds from which they come. Science Club for Girls operates as a partner of the Hernández Afterschool Program. Although Science Club curricula are all in English, we are working to find bilingual mentors for this program.

Registration for K2-2 participants will be coordinated through the Hernández Afterschool Program. Priority is given to Hernández students and regular Afterschool participants.

Application forms for Junior Mentors are typically available on this page in late August and mid-December.

Professionals, graduate and undergraduate students interested in becoming a mentor-scientist at this location can send an email to volunteer@scienceclubforgirls.org.
