After eight years of service with Science Club for Girls, which provides free, experiential program connecting girls from underrepresented communities with women mentors in science, technology, engineering and mathematics, Dr. Connie Chow will step down from her position as Executive Director, effective December 12, 2014. Dr. Chow will continue to lead the organization as the board conducts a comprehensive search for a new Executive Director over the next few months.
During her time with the organization, Dr. Chow has elevated Science Club for Girls’ reputation in the nonprofit and STEM community through outreach and multiple awards from local and national organizations. She raised over three million dollars for Science Club for Girls over her eight years as Executive Director and grew the organization’s programming from its Boston area roots to serving girls throughout eastern Massachusetts.
As Science Club for Girls enters its 20th year, the staff and board are excited about the organization’s potential to reach more girls and to expand their universe through program development and collaborations. The current staff, with over 60 years of experience in STEM education, and board with extensive experience and expertise in the nonprofit, education, business and STEM sectors are committed to Science Club for Girls’ success. We look forward to working with new executive leadership to build on Dr. Chow’s legacy and achieve even greater impact on the community. We are extremely grateful for Dr. Chow’s contributions and wish her the best with her future endeavors.
