Volunteer Training 2016

Last weekend we had an awesome time at Volunteer Training! In addition to 4 new staff members, we had over 70 volunteers join us at Simmons College.

Our team of Program Managers delivered interactive workshops on inquiry based learning, diversity, and more! Our Fall 2016 mentors join us from 10 universities in Greater Boston and Lawrence, including our brand new partnership with Merrimack College. We also have 4 student-run Campus Chapters at Boston College, Harvard University, Northeastern University, and Wellesley College.

In addition to our college-aged mentors, many professional women and teen girls (JM’s) volunteer as mentors in our clubs. Our JM’s receive the same training that our college and professional mentors do. Many have even been previous participants! 2 of our 3 workshop sessions were actually facilitated by Lead JM Teams. Lead JMs have been with us for more than 2 years, and are looking to take on additional leadership opportunities within the organization. They really enjoyed training the new volunteers and JMs, and got to draw a lot on their previous experience to add to training.

This week our mentors are on site at local schools and community centers. Next week…Fall clubs begin!
