Science Club Searches for First Ever Executive Director

During the coming year Science Club for Girls (SCFG) will be undergoing major organizational restructuring. Formerly a Program Director and the Board of Directors have successfully managed the program, but due to significant organization growth, this model is no longer sustainable. The new structure will include two staff members, a Program Manager (PM) and Executive Director (ED). If you or someone you know would be a strong candidate for this position, please see the full job description on our website at Staff Directory.

Thank You to our Generous Sponsors

Greetings!

Science Club for Girls continues to grow thanks to the support of local corporations, partner schools and community members and parents. We have hired a new Program Manager and are searching for our first ever Executive Director. This staff expansion has become necessary due to the increase in girls that we serve - 404 already this year! In this issue you'll find interviews with three distinguished women from a major research company, and a generous sponsor of Science Clubs - Biogen Idec. In addition, a Science Club Junior Assistant has founded a Club in Ghana during her travels over the spring. As always, our Junior Assistants have created and written this newsletter - enjoy!

  • Meet Our New Program Manager
  • Mairead McSweeney-Shutt is the new Program Manager for Science Club for Girls. She grew up in Seattle, Washington, moved to Massachusetts in 2004, and enjoys it here very much. Even though she has not been part of the Club team for long, it is obvious that the girls respect her. She knows how to interact with them and, thus, is an effective leader.
