Dr. Lynda Jordan
Dr. Lynda Jordan is an exceptional woman. She earned her degrees in the field of Chemistry. She is an elegant lady, who is concerned about the education and future of children and she motivates many people. Life was not always easy for her, Dr. Lynda
Jordan did not let difficulties prevent her from being an educated and encouraging Black woman.
Born and raised in Boston Massachusetts-in the neighborhood of Roxbury-Dr. Jordan was always encouraged, by her parents, to strive for excellence. Her parents played a central role in Dr. Jordan's life. Her mother was a homemaker and daycare provider who made sure that her children were educated and nurtured. Her father was a meat-cutter and electrician and was the hardest working man that she knew. Dr. Jordan got her hard working trait from her father.
While in high school, Dr. Jordan dealt with peer pressure, and although she was passing all of her classes, she attended night school to be with her friends, so that they can graduate from high school too. She felt like giving up many times, but she was determined to go on to further her education.
Dr. Jordan initially wanted to become a nurse; but her love for Chemistry steered her toward a career in Biological Chemistry. She decided that she could make a contribution to the medical field as a Biological Chemist. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from North Carolina Agricultural & Technical State University; a Masters of Science degree in Chemistry from Atlanta University; and a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Biological Chemistry from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Dr. Jordan is presently a student at Harvard University, where she is pursing degrees at the School of Divinity and the School of Public Health. As she did when she was a Chemistry Professor, Dr. Jordan still inspires students to pursue and reach their goals.
Dr. Jordan describes her greatest achievement as assisting her students to graduate, earn degrees, and maintain successful careers in: medicine, law, dentistry, education and government. A former marathon runner, Dr. Jordan says that she hasn't accomplished all her goals yet, but she certainly plans to.
