​Digital Content and Engagement Coordinator

 Full Time (40 hours per week) 

 

​​​OVERVIEW​

Science Club for Girls (SCFG), a Cambridge-based non-profit established in 1994, is seeking a Digital Coordinator to join our growing team! SCFG is dedicated to empowering girls and gender-expansive youth underrepresented in STEM fields by providing hands-on learning, mentorship, and access to professional opportunities. Our mission is to foster confidence, excitement, and literacy in STEM through community-focused programming and to promote diversity in the STEM workforce. SCFG is expanding its reach and engagement through online platforms, social media, and influencer partnerships. This new role will oversee content creation, website and email management, and lead community engagement efforts across our social media platforms. The Digital Content and Engagement Coordinator will be responsible for developing engaging content around SCFG clubs, mentor spotlights, packing projects, online YouTube series, and the organization’s annual Catalyst Awards. Additionally, the role will focus on expanding SCFG’s online presence, increase email list engagement, and foster relationships with influencers, donors, and sponsors to further support our mission.


The Development Team at SCFG plays a vital role in raising the visibility of the organization’s impact, programming and events across various offline and online channels. This team works collaboratively to develop content strategies, engage with stakeholders, and build relationships with potential donors, sponsors, and influencers. The team values creativity, teamwork, and innovative thinking.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Graphic Design & Visual Content: Develop and design visually compelling social media graphics, videos, and other content to elevate SCFG’s online presence. Design branded assets for various channels, including SCFG Science Clubs, online TV show, and Catalyst Awards.

  • Website Management: Oversee updates and content management on SCFG’s Wix website, ensuring information is current, visually engaging, and aligned with branding. Make improvements to enhance user experience and coordinate with SCFG’s team on website needs and updates.

  • Content Strategy: Implement content strategies that align with SCFG’s mission and engage target audiences.

  • Event Attendance & Storytelling: Attend SCFG events to capture high-quality video, photo, and story content that showcases SCFG’s impact, translating it into engaging posts, stories, and visuals.

  • Community Engagement & Growth: Actively engage with SCFG’s social media followers, build relationships with relevant online communities, and grow SCFG’s social media presence through interactive content and visual storytelling.

  • Donor, Sponsor & Email List Engagement: Create eye-catching content to attract potential donors and sponsors, and develop strategies to grow SCFG’s email list.

  • Campaign Management & Reporting: Oversee and manage social media campaigns, track engagement, and provide reports on key metrics, with a focus on improving engagement through visually appealing content.

SKILLS

  • Graphic Design: Experience in creating high-quality social media graphics and visual content using Canva.

  • Video Production: Experience with video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro) and the ability to produce video content that tells a compelling story.

  • Website Management: Experience managing and updating websites, preferably using Wix or similar website builders, with a focus on design consistency and user experience.

  • Social Media Strategy: Skilled in managing content and growing audiences on platforms like Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and YouTube.

  • Community Engagement: Ability to interact and build relationships with online communities, influencers, and partners to expand SCFG’s digital presence.

  • Event Coverage: Strong storytelling skills, including photography and videography, to capture engaging content from SCFG events.

  • Metrics Tracking: Ability to monitor, analyze, and report on social media performance and community growth.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education: 3+ years of related experience in Communications, Marketing, Graphic Design, Media, or a related field.

  • Experience: Experience in graphic design, social media management, content creation, and online community engagement.

  • Software/Tools: Proficient in social media platforms, Canva, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Premiere Pro), social media management tools (e.g., Hootsuite, Sprout Social), Asana, Mailchimp, and Salesforce.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Additional Assets: Familiarity with STEM education or non-profit work, self-starter with a passion for creating impactful content and growing communities.

OTHER

  • Work Environment: Hybrid work with daily travel to SCFG programs and events in Cambridge, Boston, and Somerville.

  • Team Collaboration: Close collaboration with the SCFG’s TV show team, SCFG staff, and external partners.

SALARY AND BENEFITS 

SCFG is located in Kendall Square, a 10-minute walk from the Kendall/MIT MBTA station. This is a hybrid position. Currently, SCFG staff are working 2 days/week in the office on Tuesdays and Thursdays and 3 days/week remotely. This position requires regular attendance at Science Clubs and vacation week programs to capture program content. Occasionally, SCFG participates in organizational or partner related events that occur on weekdays and weekends. The salary range for this position is $57,000-$63,000. Benefits include 401(k), health and dental insurance, 3-weeks paid time off plus one week off at the end of the calendar year, 12 paid holidays, and 6 personal/sick days annually. This position is open to Massachusetts residents only.
