Science Club for Girls wishes to thank The Cambridge Community Foundation, Geeta Pradhan, President & CEO, The Cambridge STEAM Initiative, Sharlene Yang, Director, and Vice Mayor of Cambridge, Jan Devereux for making it possible for clubs to continue in Cambridge while Science Club for Girls launches its Smart Growth Initiative.
During the spring semester, the STEAM Initiative is continuing our mission to foster excitement, confidence and literacy in STEM for girls, particularly from underrepresented communities, by providing free, experiential programs and by maximizing meaningful interactions with women mentors in science, technology, engineering & mathematics (STEM). Thanks to the STEAM Initiative, and the leadership of Program Manager Cristina Ullmann, girls from Science Club for Girls continue to be mentored by women scientists at the Margaret Fuller Neighborhood House and The King Open School.
In the spring of 2018, SCFG went on hiatus while we work with a strategic planning and development team to produce a more robust development model geared toward expansion. We are responding to wait lists of over a year both for underserved girls who wanted to be in our programs and women scientists who wanted to volunteer as mentors.
To fuel and sustain our Smart Growth initiative, grow cost-effectively and reduce service duplication, SCFG is actively pursuing formal partnerships with like-minded nonprofits and corporations.
Please consider supporting the next stage in our Smart Growth Initiative. Your donation will help enable us to implement a fall program in Cambridge supported by a sustainable infrastructure.
Looking long-term, your support will position SCFG for significant growth and geographic expansion so we can positively impact many more girls and get them on a pathway to careers in STEM and a more secure financial future.
