Is there a doctor in the house!?
Yes, actually — four. They and others gave SCFG teens a taste of working in a hospital in Boston last month.
SCFG participants attended MassBioEd’s Career Exploration & Job Shadowing Day at Massachusetts General Hospital. They joined 26 other teens from Dracut High School and Boston Day and Evening school to observe and network with medical professionals working in radiology, physical therapy, neurology, and oncology.
“The job shadow day at MGH was really beneficial,” said Jameelah Julien, a junior at Boston Latin School and a member of our STEM Internship Program. “The experience exceeded all my expectations because I was exposed to careers I had never previously encountered, and I found out things about careers that I thought I had a prior knowledge of.”
MassBioEd is a nonprofit based in Cambridge that supports STEM education, particularly in the realm of biotechnology, by educating teachers and bringing students and companies together to prepare and engage the next wave of the biotechnology workforce. Thank you to MassBioEd and MGH for inviting us to such a special event and inspiring our young people!
