Clubs
SCFG Clubs are led by women adult mentors who study or work in STEM fields. Participants and mentors both commit to weekly participation for a full academic semester. Our mentors serve as role models, and allow girls to see themselves in STEM careers. As girls progress through SCFG programming, they develop close connections with mentors, gain leadership opportunities, and deepen their STEM learning.
Clubs are held after school and on the weekend at schools and community centers. Most clubs have 10-12 girls, 2 women mentors, and 1-2 Junior Mentors. Girls engage in fun, experiential hands-on projects, and learn different perspectives on how scientists think, the questions they ask, and how they solve problems. Different STEM topics such as chemistry, engineering, computer science, environmental science, and physics are explored.
