Resources for Families and Parents

School and business closures have caused incredible strain, instability, and uncertainty for families of Science Club for Girls. We've gathered a list of resources for adult caregivers—from emergency relief funds and food assistance, to how to talk to your girls about COVID-19 and support their social-emotional wellbeing during this time.

Click below to access resources—both general and specific to residents of Cambridge, Boston, and Somerville—which we will continue to update on a regular basis. Please contact a member of our staff at 617-391-0361 or scfg@scienceclubforgirls.org if you need assistance.

SCFG at Home

With critical measures in place to prevent the spread of COVID-19, Science Club for Girls has moved our operations online for the remainder of the spring semester. While we miss seeing you in person each week, the learning continues! Click below for STEM projects you can do from home. Check back weekly for new material, and be sure to follow our Facebook page to see the "STEM activity of the week" in action.

We welcome anyone—not just our club participants!—to try out an experiment and post on social media with the hashtag #SCFGatHome. You can also email a photo or video of your activity to scfg@scienceclubforgirls.org for us to share on our page. We look forward to seeing how you #SCFGatHome!

Read, Review, Repeat!

During this time when schools and libraries are closed, we're excited to partner with Tumblehome Books to offer FREE BOOKS to our community through their 3Rs Program: Read, Review, Repeat!

A non-profit STEM publishing company in Boston, Tumblehome Books help kids imagine themselves as scientists and engineers through stories of adventure and discovery. Our staff picked out their favorites for all ages—just fill out this form and wait for your first free book to arrive in your mailbox, in about 2 weeks!

Once you receive your free book, read it, review it on Amazon.com, and repeat the process (as many times as you want!) by picking another new, free book to read. You get to keep the books and build your library. There is no cost to the reader (shipping is free) and no obligation at any time in the process. Happy reading!
