Month in Review: October '23

Science Clubs for Girls strives to not only have a significant impact on the students and families that we work with, but also on the communities that we are present in. Read below to see where SCFG has contributed recently:

SCFGLive! at the OST Symposium: Our SCFGLive! team participated in the 10th Annual OST Symposium from the Agenda for Children where they presented on the history and making of SCFGLive! and led a hands-on demonstration of how our online science TV show can be easily used by afterschool programs to engage children in fun STEM activities. SCFGLive! can help increase access to hands-on STEM programming and alleviate the pressure on out-of-school time program managers who don't have prior experience with STEM.

STEAM It Up Event: Cambridge STEAM Initiative hosted a K-8 family STEAM event and Science Club for Girls was one of the many activity providers! Hundreds of children and their families participated in the free night of demonstrations, making this one of the largest annual STEAM outreach events in Cambridge. At our table, members of our Program Team and Science Club Mentors guided visitors through an activity building towers out of masking tape and straws, learning about the engineering and design process while experimenting with building tall, yet sturdy structures.
