For the month of October, we have been celebrating Black Energy Awareness Month (BEAM) on SCFGLive!, our weekly online/TV science show. Alongside our friends at the American Association of Blacks in Energy (AABE) and National Grid, we have been exploring all things ENERGY through hands-on experiments and demonstrations, interviews with scientists and fascinating field trips.
It has been an action-packed month, with episodes on:
Power Grids
Renewable vs. Non-Renewable Energy
Careers in Energy
Electric Vehicles
Climate Change & Supporting our Environment
We have welcomed some incredible special guests to the show, including Shawn Jones from BlueWave Solar, Monique Screen-Berry from Eversource, and her daughter, Maddy (seen above!), Rossalyn Quaye from Con Edison, Evette Ellis from ChargerHelp, and Tamika Jacques and her daughter, Imani.
A HUGE thank you to National Grid for sponsoring this special five-episode series!
SCFGLive! is Science Club for Girls’ weekly LIVE science show that features fun, hands-on experiments, engaging a wide audience of young scientists (ideal for grades K-5) in STEM learning. Since April 2020, we’ve aired over 40 episodes which have had more than 63,000 views!
