At Science Club for Girls, we love nothing more than watching our participants grow into confident, curious leaders—and then come back to mentor the next generation. On National Intern Day, we’re thrilled to spotlight one of our very own: Benisha “Beni” Marseille, a longtime SCFG participant, current college student, and now a two-time summer intern with our Program Team.
Beni’s journey with SCFG began when she was just nine years old, attending our Science Clubs at Mother Caroline Academy. It didn’t take long for her to get hooked.
“SCFG got me really into science as a kid,” Beni says. “Through SCFG I learned to be more confident and creative when approaching challenges—and I learned how to be more comfortable in taking risks.”
That early spark has only grown brighter.
After her time as a participant, Beni became a Junior Mentor, supporting younger girls from 8th through 12th grade while deepening her own STEM knowledge and developing her leadership voice. This Fall, she’ll be entering her sophomore year at College of the Holy Cross, majoring in computer science—and she’s got her sights set on a big goal: becoming a web developer at NASA.
But Beni hasn’t left SCFG behind. She returned this summer for a second year as an intern with our Program Team, bringing the same energy and curiosity that defined her years as a participant and mentor. Whether she’s sharing her story at community events, creating engaging videos for our Science Exploration Kits, or inspiring students during our Summer Rocketry Program, Beni is showing what it means to grow with SCFG—and give back.

“Mentoring has been so much fun!!!” she says. “I love interacting with the participants and hearing their ideas. The best part is connecting with other mentors—you get exposed to so many opportunities. It’s an amazing experience.”
She’s also deeply aware of the bigger picture.
“Science Club for Girls shows girls that there are other career avenues they can follow that can help inspire financial mobility in the future. It introduces girls to mentors that look like them and are doing the jobs and careers we talk about within the Club meetings. For me, SCFG gave me so many chances to put my name out there and practice my voice.”
From a curious elementary school student to a rising college STEM major, Beni has embraced every opportunity SCFG had to offer—while uplifting those around her along the way.
On National Intern Day, we celebrate Beni, and all the young leaders like her, who are shaping the future of STEM and making their mark on the world, one experiment, one Club, and one rocket launch at a time.
