Coding Club is a four-day immersive experience which takes place during the week of February vacation. During the program, participants gain a foundational understanding of how computer programming works and how it has shaped the technology all around us. Participants learn both basics and nuances of two front-end programming languages (HTML and CSS) through code-alongs, with the end goal of programming their very own websites.
Each day there is “Hackathon Hour” which replicates the concept of a Hackathon where students spend a designated hour at the end of the day programming, both individually and in groups. Not only does this nurture collaboration, but it also provides opportunities for students to master and apply their new coding skills. During this time, participants also get the chance to meet women who currently work in technology and use computer programming in their daily lives. This helps our young technologists visualize what a potential career in technology could look like—and to realize that they too could follow this path.
