APRIL VACATION AI & ROBOTICS CLUB

Grades 6-8
Smiling Participant with Robot.HEIC

Artificial Intelligence (AI) & Robotics Club is a four-day immersive experience which takes place during the week of April vacation. During the program, participants learn how to write algorithms, explore machine learning, and discuss the potential ethical considerations and consequences that accompany technological advances. Over the course of the week, participants build their own robots, learn how to program those robots, train an image classifier on a set of images, and utilize language processing to help their robots respond to voice commands. Participants also gain a foundational understanding of how AI works and how this technology is used in various fields, such as computer science and medicine. The program takes place at the MIT Museum and includes a guided tour of their AI exhibit. Woven throughout the program is discussion of algorithmic bias and the implications of these biases on various groups of people.
