The Young Professionals Network (YPN) is a community of mission-driven leaders, ages 21–35, who through volunteer opportunities, fundraising efforts, and networking events, strengthen their professional connections while fueling the mission of Science Club for Girls.
The Science Club for Girls Young Professionals Network (YPN) unites emerging leaders who are passionate about expanding access and opportunity in STEM. Together, we build community, raise awareness, and provide critical support for Science Club for Girls’ mission to foster excitement, confidence, and literacy in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) among girls and gender-expansive youth from underrepresented communities. Open to all who believe in advancing representation and access, the YPN offers meaningful ways to give back and empowers young professionals to help shape a future where all voices belong in STEM.

Members of the Young Professionals Network commit to actively supporting Science Club for Girls each year. Participation can take many forms — from fundraising and volunteering to spreading the word through marketing and outreach.

*Below are the Member Engagement Opportunities. In order to remain an active member of the Young Professionals Network, members are expected to complete three of the eleven listed opportunities throughout the year (July 1 - June 30). These do not all need to be unique; they are welcome to repeat a qualifying opportunity (for example, attending two YPN events) to count toward the total of three.

Attend a Young Professionals Network event (fundraising event, networking event, meet-up, etc.)

Volunteer with Science Club for Girls at an event such as a YPN Curriculum Packing Event, the Cambridge Science Carnival, or the September Mentor Conference.

Mentor for one semester (up to two times per year).

Purchase a YPN ticket to the Science Club for Girls’ signature fundraising event, Catalyst.

Join and participate in the Catalyst Committee.

Be an active member of the Science Club for Girls L.A.B. (monthly giving program) by donating at least $5/month, or make a one-time donation of $30 or more.

Raise $500 through an online fundraising campaign (e.g., Facebook fundraising campaign for your birthday, setting up a page during SCFG’s year-end campaign).

Participate in a marketing effort for Science Club for Girls, which could include being featured in a #WomenInSTEM Wednesday post, being interviewed for an SCFG video, or writing a guest blog post for the SCFG website.

Recruit a Curriculum Packing Corporate Sponsor or Catalyst Sponsor.

Participate in a YPN Committee (Fundraising, Marketing, or Membership) and attend committee meetings.

Participate in a special project or focus group for Science Club for Girls (all opportunities will be communicated in monthly newsletters).
