At Flagship Pioneering, we spend our days thinking about science at the molecular level—but there’s something incredibly powerful about stepping back and engaging with science in its most hands-on, tangible form. I was thrilled to join my colleagues at a Science Club for Girls Curriculum Packing Event, where we rolled up our sleeves to prepare materials for the Fall biology curriculum. As a board member, it was deeply fulfilling to bring my professional and personal worlds together in support of an organization that’s opening doors for the next generation of scientists.

What made the experience especially memorable was how unexpectedly creative and collaborative it became. Each team found its rhythm as we sorted, measured, and assembled the many pieces that go into a single kit. At one point, we were cutting and winding yarn to model the human intestine—a deceptively simple task that quickly became a highlight of the day. It brought out everyone’s strengths (and a little healthy competition), and reminded us how much thought and care go into making science engaging and accessible for every SCFG participant.

If your company is searching for a meaningful volunteer opportunity in STEM education, packing curriculum materials with Science Club for Girls offers a hands-on, team-based way to make a lasting impact.

Through this engaging and mission-driven corporate volunteer activity, your team can support equity in STEM, strengthen employee engagement, and help expand access to hands-on science education for girls and gender-expansive youth.

How Hands-On STEM Packing Drives Real Impact

Every week, our young scientists light up when they open their STEM kits. These kits are carefully packed with everything they need to explore through engaging, hands-on activities in an interactive, highly participatory club setting—whether they’re building a model lung or experimenting with circuits. But none of that happens without corporate volunteers who make sure every child receives the materials they need.

When your team joins a Curriculum Packing Event, you’re doing more than assembling kits—you’re helping deliver high-quality, free STEM education to girls and gender-expansive youth across Greater Boston. These young people are curious, capable, and ready to lead. By packing these kits, your team plays a direct role in nurturing their potential and fueling their confidence.

Supporting access to education is one of the most powerful ways to invest in the future.

STEM Kit Packing: A Team-Building Activity with Real Impact

Packing events are energizing and collaborative. They give colleagues a chance to connect with each other and the community in a hands-on, high-impact way. Whether it’s your first time volunteering or part of a broader CSR initiative, this is the kind of experience that sticks with people.

We’ve heard from many partners who leave feeling inspired by the mission—and energized by the team dynamics that naturally emerge during the process. Groups often create mini-competitions, celebrate wins, and leave with a deeper sense of connection to each other and the community.

Perfect for:

  • Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) & Environmental, Social, Governance (ESG) Teams

  • Employee Resource Groups (ERGs)

  • Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Committees

  • Corporate Volunteer Programs

  • STEM-focused Employee Engagement Initiatives

Bring Your Team In. Make an Impact You Can See.

We’ve partnered with dozens of companies—from small startups to global leaders—to pack thousands of kits for our clubs. Each event looks a little different, but the outcome is always the same: girls and gender-expansive youth gaining access to the tools and experiences they need to build a brighter future.
