Kiara Donald
Kiara Donald is an Analytical Chemist, dedicated to advancing STEM education. A
proud Simmons University alum with a BS in Chemistry. A daughter of Caribbean
parents who never envisioned herself working in a laboratory. During her undergraduate
years, she discovered a passion for science that set her on a meaningful career path in
Analytical Chemistry. As Co-Chair of Alnylam’s STEM outreach ULearn with Alnylam,
she mobilizes her colleagues’ skills and enthusiasm to make a positive impact on the
community, focusing on inspiring future STEM leaders—especially those from
underrepresented backgrounds—by showing that their talents, perspectives, and
experiences are valued and essential in science, technology, engineering, and
mathematics.
As Principal Associate Scientist at Alnylam Pharmaceuticals, Kiara actively promotes
STEM education and motivates the next generation of scientific leaders. Through her
involvement with ULearn, Kiara has played a pivotal role in organizing educational
events and collaborating with community partners. She actively participates in these
events and supports fundraising initiatives that help broaden access to science
education for young learners.
As an advocate for science education, Kiara has been a featured representative in the
Science Club for Girls’ 4% campaign, helping to amplify the organization’s mission to
inspire excitement, confidence, and scientific literacy among students. The campaign
connects students with women mentors in STEM, fostering meaningful relationships
that encourage engagement and growth in science-related fields.
Kiara’s dedication to expanding access to STEM education is further reflected in her
position as an Honorary Board Member of Science Club for Girls, where she brings a
community-centered perspective and a strong commitment to supporting the
organization’s mission and broadening opportunities in STEM for a diverse range of
students.
